About waterfalls.com.au
A free guide to the waterfalls of Australia, built so you can tell at a glance whether a fall is worth the drive today.
What this site is
waterfalls.com.au lists more than 0 waterfalls, each with the details people ask about before they go: can you swim, how long is the walk, where do you park, and is it running right now.
Where the information comes from
Waterfall locations come from OpenStreetMap, the open map built by volunteers around the world. We add walk details, facilities and descriptions, starting with the most visited falls and checking those by hand.
Rainfall figures come from the Bureau of Meteorology, and closures come from state national parks services.
How flow and access status work
Each morning we look at rainfall in the catchment above every waterfall over the past fortnight and estimate how much water is likely going over it. It is an estimate, so use it as a guide and trust your own eyes on the day.
- Pumping
- Flowing
- Trickle
- Probably dry
Access status reflects the latest alerts from the park that manages each waterfall.
- Open
- Partial closure
- Closed
How corrections work
Every waterfall page has a short form for reporting changes, like a new car park or a toilet block that has closed. We read each one and check it before updating the page, so the details stay accurate without anyone editing them directly.
